Recently, stucco again returns to the market of finishing materials – as an inexpensive, but spectacular interior decoration. In our article we will consider how the stucco is mounted, as well as the possibility of its coloring.

As a rule, stucco is produced in separate modules, which are then assembled into a coherent whole. And if earlier gypsum was used as a raw material for manufacturing, now heavy gypsum plastics are increasingly being replaced by polymeric materials – made of polyurethane, with or without coating. Most manufacturers offer primed and laminated surfaces, each type of coating serves a specific purpose. Thus, the laminate coating is appropriate only for interior decoration, and the primed can be used for both internal and external works, since the primer prolongs the life of polyurethane.
In addition, the laminate can be painted only with paints that are chemically inactive, and the primed surface – with any. Well, and accordingly the cost of primed stucco above.

Polyurethane can be mounted with construction glue, ordinary and liquid nails. If you want to put stucco on the glue – you just need to apply adhesive on the back surface of the stucco. When the glue is completely dry, you can paint the elements.

Important: products from polyurethane will have to be held for some time in the room where the finishing will be done – for “addiction” and more durable bonding of the surfaces of the moldings and the wall. But for those who are going to plant stucco on nails, I would like to recommend using the thinnest nails – so as not to damage the entire element with an accidental blow.

If you plan to install stucco on the ceiling in the room, then you can do with an ordinary stool. And those who are engaged in facade decoration, you can use metal or wood scaffolding.

It is possible to paint stucco in two ways: traditional and unusual. In the first case, the elements are simply painted in the same color as the wall / ceiling decoration. And in the second – bright, colorful, unusual – so that the interior design clearly stands out.

And finally – a few tips for finishing stucco

Tip 1: if you want to make the design of stucco unusual, you can even change the texture of the material – a sponge, roller, brush, cloth, using paint thickeners. You can create a relief surface, and you can – and perfectly smooth, with the effect of aging, leather, granite and granite chips.

Tip 2: instead of paint apply foil coating – as an imitation of silver. Or gold.

Tip 3: luminescence.

This is achieved with the help of modern paints, so it turns out the effect of glow in the dark – quite unusual and beautiful!
