The engraving of the period depicting the re-establishment of the Church of the Assumption in the XVII century is closest to the description of the temple by Pavel Alepsky.

1653-1660 The disappearance in the iconographic images of old-print baths and chapters above the narthex.

1660 The image of the cathedral on the title of Pechersk Paterik, edition 1661, is dated. It has characteristic differences between its image of previous periods – there is no bath over the central forelock narthex, the overlap to the north of the central cockpit changes to a “gable” gable roof.

The 1661 edition of the Pechersk Paterik of this year contains an image of the cathedral, where characteristic changes in the architecture of the temple for the period after 1660 can be traced. These include the gable roof overlap of all mosquitoes, the absence of a chapter over the narthex and the gradual formation of the volume of the Three-Holy Aisle, which its forms balances the composition of the western facade, approaching the volume of the Forerunner Church.

A characteristic element of the image of the cathedral in the 1661 edition is the appearance on the western facade of the central square of the image of the Mother of God, described by Pavel Alepsky, and a small bathhouse, which, according to its location, should be the end of the John-Theological Chapel.

1676 Changes in the architectural image of the cathedral preceding the publication of the Plot of Mary the Virgin Mary 1676 are recorded in the picture of the western facade. First of all, this is the appearance of baroque and “gabled” gables crowning the cornice of the floor of the mosquitoes, of the cupolas above the central zakomaras and the southwestern corner of the main volume, as well as the chapel at the northern part of the main volume. Light domes remained only above the center of the church and the Church of St. John the Baptist – the baptismal.

1677 Appearance of a chapel in front of the facade of the Forerunner Church in the picture.

1687 The fire this year causes significant damage to the Assumption Cathedral.

1690 Reconstruction of the Assumption Cathedral, associated with the activities of Ivan Mazepa.

1693 According to the image on the title page of the Akathist, the chapels on the western facade unite in two equal single-level volumes on either side of the central entrance. Each volume has three divisions with a single crowning cornice and three pediments. The volume of the Tri-Svyatitelsky chapel of the Wim-level on the height of the Forerunner Church with a dome of light and a cupola. The crowning cornice broke over the “tongs” of the central stitches repeating pediments.

1695-1697 The general view of the Assumption Cathedral, according to the iconography of old-printed of this period, remained unchanged. An important document for the history of shaping the appearance of the cathedral is “Drawing Kiev city as it stands in the Moscow side … made by Lieutenant Colonel Ushakov” in 1695 These drawings, fully consistent with the information of previous images, complements the architecture from the east side and reproduces the full space-spatial image of the temple. In addition, the characteristic image of the image information about the decorative design of facades“- painting imitating brickwork, as evidenced by subsequent images from the “Paterik” (1697) and Tarasevich engravings.
