Gilding with gold leaf

Gold has always been considered the main sign of wealth and luxury. This noble metal has been used to decorate palaces, religious buildings, temples and apartments of the nobility. Thus, gold was considered a sign of belonging to the privileged strata of society, wealth and elevation. Elements of ‘golden decor’ can be found in modern interiors, and today gilding in Ukraine is extremely relevant due to the fact that the most fashionable trend has become design solutions in the style of sublime classicism and flamboyant baroque.

To create a classic interior without using gilding is practically an impossible task, as such details are the main ones and remain unchanged for many centuries.

Gold leaf gilding is therefore a more expensive type of work and in many cases gold leaf is replaced by gold leaf. To be fair, this does not affect the quality of the work or the aesthetics of the finished product, especially if the work is done by professionals.

Gilding techniques in exteriors

As we have already mentioned, gilding, the price of which today is quite democratic, is used not only for interior, but also for exterior works. Since ancient times the domes of churches and the interior and exterior decoration of religious buildings have been decorated with gold leaf gilding. These techniques are still relevant today due to the fact that the reconstruction of churches destroyed under Soviet rule has become a priority in a society very concerned about spirituality.
