PATINATION
PATINATION AND TEXTURES – PORTFOLIO
Patination is the process of artificial or natural formation of a thin layer of oxides on the surface of metals (bronze, copper and others) to give them a decorative ageing effect. Patina gives products a noble appearance, protects against corrosion and emphasises the texture of the material. It is used in sculpture, design and decoration to create a unique aesthetic look.

GAMMA OF COLOURS
Decorative colouring, patination.
Patination of metal in nature occurs naturally, under the influence of oxygen and various chemical reactions. Of course, in nature, sometimes on the surface of the metal are formed such bizarre and unique shades, which can not be transferred to even the most skilful artist. There is one significant drawback to this natural way: to metal covered with a natural matchless patina, it will take more than one year, or even decades, because metals are quite resistant to various influences. Do not despair and those who do not have so much time to get the long-awaited result. For fans of old things in the interior and exterior, antiques and other luxurious items ‘under the antique’ was found a universal solution – artificial patina.
Artificial patina or artificial ageing is the best way to quickly and beautifully ‘age’ almost any product. For this purpose the specialists of the Gold Art Line company apply two main directions:
- Patination with the help of various chemical reactions and other similar technologies;
 - Artistic patination with the help of pictorial techniques and masterful work with special decorative materials.

In both the first and the second case, the result is excellent, and the products look really old. Sometimes a person who is not a specialist in the field of antique art, the naked eye is not able to distinguish artificial patina from its natural ‘analogues’. Patina is a multifaceted artistic technique, which has become even more popular today due to the fact that in the design of exteriors and interiors today is very relevant is the classical and baroque style, which implies the presence of elements of patinated decoration.
Variety of shape, texture and colour
Patination, among other things, is also good because it gives unlimited possibilities for the flight of fancy of the master and has an almost limitless scope of application. Patina, photo of which we bring to your attention, is used for ageing:
- decor elements;
 - wood furniture;
 - forged products;
 - metalware embossed work;
 - plaster decor elements;
 - plastic and many other materials.

In the work of the master has its own subtleties. For example, white patina looks very effective if applied to objects and products made of wood of different species. In this technique are made chests of drawers, cupboards, display cases and other types of furniture ‘under the antique’. Patination of copper and its alloys, such as brass, can vary in colour from olive and green, to blue or black, depending on the need to combine different colours and textures.
Patination techniques are not only intended as an excellent solution for various kinds of interior work. They are also very relevant for exterior work. If in the design of facades of buildings was used handmade stucco or there are elements of iron, then even here ‘grey antiquity’ can be an interesting and relevant solution. Facades, patina on which is made by the hands of skilful masters of the company Gold Art Line, is not only aesthetic, but also quite durable and is not affected by various aggressive environments.
